EVOC-ative Feedback
Feedback: EVOC-ative

May 12, 2007 - 10:54:46 AM

This is an excellent article and I agree with you 1,000%%. I am an EVOC instructor in the State of Virginia and have been 'preaching' for years that speed is NOT the issue. SAFETY is the primary issue in transportation. It distresses me when providers complain about having to take a refresher class. (As far as the State of Virginia and DFP is concerned, it is a one time deal. As far as our Assosication for Volunteer Rescue Squads is concerned there is a recert requirement every 5 years.) Considering the fact that ambulance operation is the foundation of good EMS service (you have to get there and back), 16-hours of one-time training is minimal compared to what we have to do to maintain our EMT levels. It has been noted that crashes with fire equipment has increased since they dropped the 5-year recertification. Hopefully, they will return to more training in this area.
I am looking forward to more articles from the T.E.A.M.
