Paramedic shot after stopping to help someone on side of road - West Virginia
A Mingo County paramedic was shot after he stopped to help someone on
the side of the road.
A 911 dispatcher said Ricky Carey stopped his ambulance after a someone
flagged him down.
When Carey approached the person, the medic was shot in the hand, the
dispatcher said.
The incident happened in Williamson about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. The
dispatcher had no further information on where the shooting took place.
Carey was transported to the hospital, but the dispatch center also had
no details this morning on his condition.
The Williamson Police Department, which is investigating the shooting,
was not releasing any information yet today.
