Ambulance Crash Log
Ambulance, pickup collide - North Carolina
One person was left with minor injuries after an ambulance and pickup truck collided in the middle of the intersection at Fallston Road and E. Stagecoach Trail Saturday.
A gray Ford pickup truck was struck by an Upper Cleveland Rescue ambulance around 10 a.m.
The bumper of the emergency vehicle was smashed, crunched into the driver’s side of the truck. Debris littered the road.
Jeff and Diane Smith said they were at the stoplight in Fallston when they heard the ambulance coming.
“I was backing up to get out of the ambulance's way,” Jeff said. “That guy didn’t even look, just turned.”
Diane said the ambulance was moving slowly, lights flashing.
Katie Pressley, assistant director of operations for Upper Cleveland Rescue said she didn’t know much about the incident.
“Upper Cleveland County was responding to a call,” she said. “Next thing I know, I got a phone call telling me to come to a wreck.”
Pressley said the ambulance driver had minor injuries.
The ambulance was going straight through the intersection on E. Stagecoach Trail and the truck was turning right on Stagecoach from Fallston Road.
The ambulance was responding to a call so there was no patient inside, officials said.
