White House Releases Health Care Reform Proposal
At 10:00 a.m. (eastern) this morning, the White House released the President's Proposal for Health Care Reform. The Senate health care reform bill, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (H.R. 3590), is the foundation of the Proposal with summaries provided of changes to key provisions to the Senate bill. The proposal will be the basis for discussion at the Bipartisan Health Reform Meeting later this week. To access the President's Proposal for Health Care Reform, please go to http://www.whitehouse.gov/health-care-meeting/proposal.
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (H.R. 3590) would extend Medicare ambulance relief including the 2% urban, 3% rural and super rural bonus increases through the end of this year. The extensions of relief would be retroactive to the beginning of this year. The Senate bill also includes language to apply a "productivity adjustment" to the annual Medicare ambulance inflation update starting in 2011.
The Bipartisan Health Reform Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 25, at the Blair House in Washington, DC. The meeting will start at 10:00 a.m. (eastern) and will be broadcast live on C-Span at www.cspan.org.
