Full-Time, 9-Month EMS Distributed Education Faculty
POSITION TITLE: EMS Distributed Education Faculty

REPORTS TO: EMS Chair
SUPERVISES: Adjunct Faculty as Needed
THE POSITION: The primary duty of this position is to develop, deploy, maintain, and extend the EMS Departments distributed education program including but not limited to continuing education, online programs, magazines and newsletters, podcasts, and other technologies where education is provided outside of the Lowry Campus. This position may also be required to teach traditional classroom courses if needed. The person in this position will interact with and be responsible for relationships with outside agencies in conjunction with the EMS Chair.
One of the hallmark resources associated with the EMS program is its simulation studios which reside within the Community College of Aurora’s Center for Simulation. The EMS program at the Community College of Aurora serves a diverse population ranging from entry level candidates to fulltime incumbent EMS professionals. Emphasis in this position is placed in the distributed education program in the EMS department The Faculty Member works collaboratively with colleagues across disciplines and across the college, participates in advising, committee assignments, and other academic and institutional support activities. The successful candidate for the position will be creative and innovative, detail oriented, and be able to work well in a collaborative, participative environment.
FACULTY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and implement curriculum for classes and programs that meet student and community needs; maintain accurate and timely records of student performance in classes; advise students; contribute to the processes of instructional planning, budgeting, assessment and curriculum review; pursue continued professional improvement both in subject matter and instructional methods; create or renew high school, community college and baccalaureate articulation agreements; support student activities; serve on committees; participate in in-service programs and professional development activities; attend meetings called by the President and Vice president of Instruction; assist the Vice President of Instruction with other activities as assigned
In order to perform the essential functions of this position, the individual must possess the ability to effectively communicate, concentrate, pay attention to detail, instruct/teach and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. Innovative qualities will be extremely valuable.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
Minimum of 5 years prehospital field experience at the paramedic level.
Additional Necessary Requirements:
- Technology - Ability to utilize technology including computers, cameras, Microsoft Office suite, and ability and willingness to quickly learn new software with minimal assistance.

- Ability to take suggestions, brainstorming, and feedback and create educational programs.
- Political adroitness with emotional and social intelligence.
- Strong desire to create compelling continuing and primary education programs.
- Strong team concept.
- Occupational Studies:
- Occupational studies faculty shall possess an appropriate combination of formal education and work experience in their occupational field.
- Educational credentials and work experience shall be evaluated and approved by the Dean and the Vice President for Instruction.
- Bachelors degree in a related field
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Thorough knowledge of national standard curriculum at all levels
- Thorough knowledge of state rules and regulations regarding EMS education and/or Emergency Planning and Response
- Thorough knowledge of National Registry requirements
- Two years Community College teaching experience
- Experience in a multi-cultural environment
- Interest/experience in globalizing the curriculum and/or international experience
- Ph.D. in a related field
Contract Specifics & Salary Range: This is a 9-month faculty contract. Salary is commensurate with education and experience and in accordance with the 2009-2010 Faculty Salary Schedule. Salary range is mid $30s to mid $40s per year. CCA offers a competitive fringe benefit program including health, dental and life insurance. Leave benefits and holidays are also included.
Anticipated Start Date: Negotiable. The person hired for this position could begin immediately.
