Position:  EMT (Full-Time, Part-Time, Per Diem)

Vanguard Healthcare offers full-time, part-time and per diem positions to qualified and certified EMTs.  We have all shifts available and can offer flexible schedules dependent upon your needs.
About the Position:

 In your role as an EMT, you will be responsible for the completion of all pre-tour checklist items, providing emergency care, treatment and transport of ill and injured persons, the lawful operation and driving of ambulance and response vehicles, providing patient care with regard to patient privacy, health information, modesty and emotional well-being, documentation of patient assessment utilizing the prescribed documentation method, effectively communicating with other emergency responders, dispatchers, police and other personnel as necessary, replenishment and decontamination of equipment as needed during the shift, reporting any vehicle or equipment malfunction that may cause vehicle or equipment failure in the future, ensuring the cleanliness and readiness of  the vehicle and worksite at end of shift. Job Qualifications:
• At least 18 years of age
• 1 year + EMT experience (volunteer or paid)
• Current  certifications including NREMT or DE EMT, Delaware CPR/AED, PHTLS or ITLS, EVO
• HS Diploma or GED
• Basic computer skills
• Current US driver’s license with at least 18 months of driving experience

 

 

 

Functional Job Requirements:
Communication Skills:
• Ability to fluently read and communicate the English language (the ability to communicate in a second language is preferred);
• Ability to interpret oral, written and diagnostic form instructions;
• Ability to utilize a computer to communicate / receive information and file electronic forms;
• Ability to communicate effectively via telephone, radio equipment, and other mediums as required;
• Ability to document, in writing, all relevant patient care information in the prescribed format and with regard to any applicable legal ramifications and constrictions;
Cognitive Skills:
• Ability to accurately discern street signs, addresses, manuals, GPS and road maps;
• Ability to use good judgment and remain calm in high stress situations;
• Ability to interview patients, patient family members and bystanders;
• Ability to work with other providers to make appropriate patient care decisions
Physical Skills:
• Ability to lift, carry and balance up to 125 pounds (250 pounds with assistance);
• Ability to bend, stoop and crawl on uneven terrain
• Ability to withstand varied environmental conditions such as extreme heat, cold and moisture;
• Possesses good manual dexterity with ability to perform all tasks related to the highest quality patient care;
• Ability to function efficiently without interruption throughout an entire work shift;
• Ability to work in low light situations and confined spaces;
• Ability to be unaffected by loud noises and flashing lights;
