Car hits ambulance; shooting victim inside later dies - Indiana
A man died early this morning after a shooting incident that Indianapolis police are still trying to unravel.
The unnamed male, in his 30s, was believed to have been shot along with a 21-year-old woman, in the 1900 block of North Bellefontaine Street, just northeast of Downtown, sometime after 11 p.m. Thursday.
The woman was found with a gunshot injury to her arm and taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital.
But the male wasn't on the scene. Someone had put him in a car and driven away.
That car crashed into a responding ambulance in the 1600 block of North Alabama St. Occupants of the car got the male out of the car and left him at the intersection and sped away, police said.
The male was transported to Methodist Hospital and pronounced dead a short time later, police said earlier this morning.
No motive was immediately known. There were numerous shots fired in the incident. Names were withheld until relatives could be notified.
Police are looking for the vehicle, described as possibly a black Pontiac Grand AM or Oldsmobile with left-side damage and a broken left mirror. Call Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317) 262-TIPS if you have any information.
