Allegedly drunk driver charged for crashing into an ambulance - Minnesota
A Maplewood man was charged with drunk driving and other crimes for allegedly crashing into an ambulance.
According to the criminal complaint, Kartaris LaShawn Harris, 30, failed to yield to the ambulance and entered the intersection of 5th Avenue and 7th Street in Minneapolis Saturday, June 27 around 3:30 p.m. The ambulance collided with Harris's vehicle.
One of the paramedics told police Harris at the wheel, but after the accident he moved into the back seat.
Officers said they noticed Harris had bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and was unsteady.
The took him to the MPD chemical test unit where he refused to take a blood or urine test.
He was charged with refusing to submit to a chemical test, DWI and driving after revocation. His license was revoked in February driving drunk. He also has a past conviction for DWI from 2007.
