Ambulance Crash Log

Autopsy Fails to Explain Ambulance Crash - Vermont

An autopsy failed to shed any light into why a Bennington EMT crashed while driving a patient to the hospital.

Dale Long, 49, was killed Monday in a crash on the West Road. A patient in the ambulance was being treated for life-threatening injuries. Two other rescue workers are OK. The driver of another vehicle involved is also OK.

Police are now awaiting toxicology reports to see if Long suffered some sort of medical condition prior to the crash.

There's still no word on whether a hail storm in the area contributed to the crash.

Meanwhile, memorial plans for Long are still being finalized because such a large turnout is expected.
