Union ambulance involved in Gainesville crash - Florida
A Gainesville teen was ticketed late Sunday for apparently causing a crash with a Union County ambulance. All six people involved survived the crash, although two were injured.
The wreck occurred at 9 p.m. while the ambulance — with its lights and siren activated — was being driven south on NW 13th Street as it approached the intersection with NW 16th Ave. Gainesville Police Corporal David Blizzard was on duty and happened to be at the intersection, watching as the ambulance stopped at the intersection, then proceeded.
According to Blizzard and other witnesses, a Honda Accord being driven by Crystal Bolton, 17, reportedly entered the intersection and collided with the ambulance, police said. The left front of the Honda struck the left front of the ambulance, according to police reports.
The patient in the ambulance and a paramedic riding with her were reportedly taken to Shands at the University of Florida for treatment of their crash-related injuries as well as for the medical condition that initiated the woman’s ambulance ride. Police said Bolton received minor injuries in the crash.
Those in the ambulance were identified as; patient Marcella McIntire, 61, Lake Butler; her son, Brian McIntire, 30, Lake Butler; driver and paramedic Archie Clemons, 28, Lake Butler; paramedic Robert Koch, 57, Lake Butler; and Michael Pittman, 25, of Gainesville.
Bolton was cited for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle, driving with a suspended license, and driving with expired license tags.
