Detroit EMS workers hurt in crash - Michigan
Despite their own injuries, the workers treated the pickup driver and his passenger after they were thrown from their truck
Two Detroit EMS workers were hurt after a pickup ran a stop sign and slammed into their rig on West McNichols Thursday night.
Despite their own injuries, the workers treated the pickup driver and his passenger after they were thrown from their truck, emergency workers on the scene said.
None of those involved in the crash were identified.
The ambulance driver was taken to a local hospital with a neck injury; the other EMS worker was treated at a local clinic. Both people in the pickup were taken to a local hospital,
where one was in critical and the other was in temporary serious condition, emergency workers said. It was unclear which person from the pickup was most seriously injured.
The crash happened about 8:40 p.m. at Patton near Grand River. The pickup crossed into westbound McNichols from southbound Patton, striking the front passenger side of the
ambulance, emergency workers said. The ambulance was returning to its home base a few blocks away at the time of the crash.
Westbound McNichols at Fielding was closed while crews cleaned up the accident scene
