Vermont: Operations Manager


OPERATIONS MANAGER

Full-Time Position

The Town of Bennington Rescue Squad, Inc is seeking an experienced, team-oriented individual for a full time position as an Operations Manager.

The successful candidate will possess strong managerial skills and judgment, as well as customer service skills with all types of patient groups, other pre-hospital providers as well as other hospital and other allied healthcare providers. Professional conduct and willingness to embrace organizational change is a must for the position.

The position encompasses managing the squad in the absence of the Executive Director; planning, directing, and organizing emergency medical services, EMS training and support activities. The successful candidate will be able analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of squad goals.  The candidate must be able to interpret and apply Federal, State and local policies, procedures, laws and regulations in addition to formulating and recommending sound squad policies.  The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing is a must in addition to being able to prepare and deliver presentations to elected and appointed officials as well as employees, squad members and members of the community.  As this person deals directly with squad employees and members, he/she must be able establish and maintain cooperative-working relationships with those contacted in the course of work and understand that every problem can be resolved more than one way and demonstrate a willingness to listen for other solutions.

As a part of a progressive EMS system provider, the candidate will evaluate current technology, methodology and make recommendations for change as needed. The candidate must also be able to provide direction and leadership to ensure consistent application of policies and coordination of activities within and external to the squad.

Salary Range: 44-48K DOE

Job Requirements:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge skills and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain them would be:

·         Minimum of 5 Years of EMS Supervisory Experience

·         An AS/AA or  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in either EMS, Public Administration, Psychology, Human Services, Human Relations, or a closely related field

·         Previous completion of or successful completion of the AAA Ambulance Service Managers Course or Fitch & Associates EMS Supervisors course within one year of hire

·         Hazmat Operations Certification

·         Completion of NIMs 700, ICS-100, ICS-200, with ICS-300 preferred

·         Experience with Ortivus and Sweet Field Data ePCR preferred

·         Candidate must pass criminal background check and DOT physical upon conditional offer of employment.

License or Certificate:

·         Candidate will have a clean driving record, and must possess EVOC or similar driving certification and be eligible for a Vermont Operators License

·         Nationally Registered Paramedic with Critical Care Paramedic Certification Preferred

Additional Requirements

·         Must reside in squad response area or relocate within 6 months of hire
