Ambulance Crash Log
Emergency vehicles collide in Portsmouth - Virginia

Just before noon Wednesday a Portsmouth police officer, on routine patrol, crashed into an ambulance.
Police say a Chesapeake ambulance was running lights and sirens because it had just left the hospital and was heading to pick up another call.
Witnesses say the impact sent the ambulance crashing into a parked SUV and then the ambulance continued on, crashing through a fence and up into the yard of Jeanie Beanie's Child Daycare.
"Fortunately there were no kids in the yard and so no-one was hurt, just the fence and the toys," said the daycare owner, Loretta Armstrong.
As soon as the crash happened, dispatchers sent another ambulance to handle the medic call the first ambulance was originally dispatched to.
Police say the officer involved in the wreck suffered minor injuries and he's going to be fine.
The crash is still under investigation.
