Lifeline Ambulance crash kills patient - Cheltenham, Pennsylvania

The victim of the fatal accident at the intersection of Washington Lane and Cheltenham Avenue Jan. 26 was a passenger of a Lifeline Ambulance, according to the Cheltenham Township Police Department Highway Safety Unit.
 
Police responded to the two-vehicle crash at 5:50 a.m. The ambulance was transporting Lenora Hanns-Heaven, 74, of the 1600 block of East Cardeza Street, Philadelphia, north on Washington Lane when it collided with an SUV traveling west on Cheltenham Avenue.
According to the Cheltenham Highway Safety Unit, it is not certain which vehicle ran the traffic light, causing the crash. Sgt. Joseph Gruver of said witnesses are being interviewed.
Hanns-Heaven died at 6:56 a.m. at Albert Einstein Medical Center, according to police.
 
The ambulance driver, Iyun Y. Williams, 28, of the 900 block of Anchor Street, Philadelphia, was transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center by Cheltenham EMS for treatment of his injuries.

The driver of the SUV, Troy Lynch, 36, of the 400 block of West 65th Avenue, Philadelphia, was transported by Springfield Township EMS to Chestnut Hill Hospital, where he was treated.

An ambulance crew member, Ilya Shokats, 22, of the 2000 block of Tyson Avenue, Philadelphia, also suffered injuries and was transported by Second Alarmers Rescue Squad to Abington Memorial Hospital.

The fatal crash remains under investigation by the Cheltenham Highway Safety Unit. Anyone with additional information is asked to call 215-885-1600.
