According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a car was changing lanes near the Midtown exit when it struck a tractor trailer on the eastbound side of the interstate around 8:30 p.m. That caused a chain reaction with nearby vehicles. A second tractor trailer collided with an ambulance, and two other cars suffered damage as well. No injuries were reported, though THP says paramedics who were riding in the ambulance went to a hospital as a precaution. No patients are believed to have been inside the ambulance at the time of the crash. The eastbound lanes were closed for about two-and-a-half hours while crews cleared the scene. Traffic was flowing normally Friday morning.
