One person was killed and two others injured when an Air Evac helicopter crash-landed near a supermarket's parking lot, authorities said.

The helicopter was trying to land to pick up a patient who had fallen and suffered a head injury late Tuesday.

The pilot, a flight paramedic and flight nurse were aboard. All three crew members reportedly were women; one was dead at the scene. The others were hospitalized with injuries that were not
considered life-threatening.

Another helicopter was dispatched and picked up the patient with the head injury.

The National Transportation Safety Board was expected to be at the crash scene Wednesday to determine a possible cause.
