While we were on our way to Maine we did pass an accident in the center divider just outside Harrisburg, PA. Emergency crews were already on scene making ready for transport, hence we did not stop and the picture was in passing.

The intent on going to Maine was to see the Fall colors in New England, visit some EMS providers, and because my grand-daughter likes lobster. I know several good restaurants where its fresh, not frozen, and plentiful. For those who saw the Lifetime Channel’s movie “Ambulance Girl” starring Kathy Bates, she played the title role of Jane Stern. Jane and her husband Michael run a web site, “roadfood.com”, where they rate restaurants in their travels when Jane isn‘t on call as an EMT for the local volunteer fire department.

The lobster stew at the Sea Basket in Wiscasset was all that they raved about, and more. A grandfather never disappoints a grandchild when wishes can come true.

I’m currently in Kentucky where I hope to find some “Burgoo” and other local dishes. I spotted a local EMS crew at a fast food restaurant and was able to get my son to stop so I could visit with them about the local area. I’ve followed up with a visit to Hardin County EMS and will report on that later in the week.
