Family and friends are struggling with the Thursday night death of a Valley teen. 18-year-old Dianna Bowden was killed after her car collided with an ambulance.

The accident happened on Highway 231-431 in Madison County around 10 p.m. Thursday.

The force of the collision sent Dianna's Dodge Neon more than 50 yards past the point of impact.

The rescue squad worked for almost an hour to free the 18-year-old from her car. Med-Flight was waiting nearby but the recent Hazel Green High School graduate died on the scene of the accident.

State troopers say the driver, the attending medic and the patient in the ambulance were all taken to Huntsville Hospital with injuries. According to the hospital, two have been released.

Witnesses who saw the crash tell WAFF 48 News that the ambulance was speeding without its lights and sirens running prior to the accident.

State troopers say the accident is under investigation.
