EMSN news began in late 1999
as a single page on a popular general EMS web site that had started in February
1999.
Almost immediately
a number of things began occurring that made EMSN the
number one EMS news service.
- the section was garnering significant
numbers of visitors, with visitors asking for even more news
- it was expanded to many pages to met the news thirst of the internet
EMS community
- it quickly became necessary to create an entire sub-section
devoted to news
- many other webmasters of emergency related sites were carrying
our news by cutting and pasting, or simply linking to the EMSN
site
- it was imperative it become independent to allow for growth
Visitors not only wanted news,
they began to submit newsworthy items and jobs for us to post. Some
of those same news hungry visitors have since become our Associate
Editors. All personnel with EMSN volunteered and had a common
interest in the latest news and in sharing the news they found.
EMSN worked hard and invested
significant funds to ensure the
site was organized and presented in an user-friendly manner.
Webmaster and visitors demands
spurred us to invest additional time and funds to add other
features: search capabilities, news feeds, tickers, and other
services as quickly as we could. Columnists
specializing in EMS articles and news opinions were added in late
2004.
Today, to keep our news the most up-to-date
and relevant found on the
internet or in hard print, the EMSN staff expends a minimum of 4 hours per
issue posting news, obtaining reprint permissions, performing auto
and manually searches, keeping news feeds and emailed news delivery services
operating and other duties that have kept EMSN the number one EMS
news service since its inception.
As of August 2004,
the costs of continuing to provide this free, high end service to
webmasters and visitors made it necessary for us to offer ad
space for rent to help off-set the significant cost associated
with the service.
EMSN and its staff are proud of our
continued success and find
personal satisfaction in our ability to meet the needs of the EMS
community, and we desire to continue to do so. If you are
interested in purchasing ad space, please visit our advertising
page.
